Education
Rosa Santibáñez & Josu Solabarrieta
INTERVENTION: Quality of Life and Inclusion Research Team
Preferably a graduate in education with broad knowledge in communitarian issues, social intervention and quantitative and qualitative methodologies
- Social Sciences and Humanities (SOC)
This is a socio-educational programme that has been in place throughout Spain for more than 15 years. It is a programme aimed at children and adolescents in particularly vulnerable situations that takes place outside school time. Its vision has changed from 2012 with an integral perspective and in collaboration with social, health and community services.
The evaluation will begin in the city of Bilbao with the identification of the evaluation needs of programme promoters, managers and practitioners. Previous evaluation processes will be reviewed as well. It will focus on the analysis of elements relating to the needs of the target population, the input, the process and its programme results. All these elements will be triangulated using the information provided by different sources and in different formats (interviews, questionnaires, the contribution of indicators).
Specifically, in relation to the results, educational trajectories will be analyzed (graduation and suitability rates, learning process, inclusion, motivation, self-esteem, permanence in the program, absenteeism, etc.).

90.500 € INTERDISCIPLINARY COLLABORATION
The project focuses on education and social intervention.
Yes. It will be directed by both Dr Santibañez PhD and Dr Solabarrieta PhD
We will share the results on the Social Justice International Research Platform of the University of Deusto to create new potential projects broadening their interdisciplinarity. INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION
The project has great potential to scale up at European level. Close cooperation with Eurochild will developed.
It is aligned with several of the Sustainable Development Goals (1 no poverty, 4. quality education, 10. reduced inequalities), as well as with Pillar 2 and the social challenges, namely of an inclusive society.
It will be decided together with the candidate according to his/her specific research situation, thesis proposal and the interdisciplinary aspects of the research project. INTERSECTORAL COLLABORATION
The project requires multisectoral work. It involves diverse areas of professional development such as education, community intervention, health, social services. It requires the involvement of different managerial and policymakers at different levels.
Industrial doctorate is not envisaged since the programme requires the researcher to be hired by the University of Deusto. However, if the participation of an industrial partner is regarded appropriate, it will be involved in the research and training of the PhD student since the beginning. IMPACT
The main objective is the evaluation of the project’s impact. Thus, its orientation is towards the project. It includes the conceptualization of the impact in line with the latest international trends and to concretize it within this project. INNOVATION
The main innovation is the methodology of work and research, based on action research, participatory research and the integration of diversity of services. INCLUSION
Deusto is committed to social justice and inclusion. It recognises gender equality as a key driver for sustainable development, inclusive growth and academic opportunity for women. Moreover, to seek real inclusion for people with specific support needs, the project will ensure equal rights and opportunities with respect to access to the programme and the acquisition of skills expected to achieve the PhD.
