Innovative proposals for community committed organizations
Social Development, Economy and Innovation for People (EDISPe2), research group with multidisciplinary scholars from Economics, Management and Law. Our research areas are: 1.- Social and solidarity based economy, entrepreneurship and social innovation for sustainable development: based on accumulated expertise in organizations of social and solidarity based economy, its values and principles, its economic, social and environmental impact for a balanced and cohesive growth. 2.- Construction of a legal, economic governance and management environment for all people: combining legal, economic and social perspectives, specially focusing on the European area. 3.- Service-Learning as a transformative pedagogical tool, as an element of building committed citizenship. The EDISPe2 team participates in national and international networks, counting on abundant scientific publications and contributions in congresses, as well as teaching experience at all levels of study. It is remarkable its leadership and participation in European projects and research projects developed in co creation with public or social organisations.
Candidates should have a PhD in Social Sciences and Humanities (Law, Economics, Sociology, Politics…) and research experience in areas related to social and solidarity based economy, entrepreneurship and social innovation for sustainable development.
Personal skills as flexibility and team work abilities are necessary.

Our research deals with new demands to economic & social organizations to tackle challenges of the new economic context focused in people. This project will be developed within the framework of research line “Social and solidarity based economy, entrepreneurship & social innovation for sustainable development”
A new space is opened for organizations that focus on people, that commit them to their project, that collaborate in networks with others, that innovate to better respond to new needs and contexts. Organizations of the new economy with a vision of local and community commitment in their DNA. Many of them come from the sphere of the cooperative, social and solidarity based economy, with a long tradition in our context; Interested in developing new governance and accountability to environment regarding its impact, both economic, social and environmental.
We welcome projects aimed at exploring new approaches and tools for: building social & trust capital; participation of people in enterprise; organizations that commit stakeholders; measuring social impact; corporate social responsibility & shared value; sustainability development & report; cooperative social responsibility & social audit; civic engagement; values & principles in management; governance of engaged organizations; social entrepreneurship; social innovation for community & inclusion
Multidisplinary focus: backgrounds in Economics, Management, Social Science, Law, Political Science or Education are welcomed.

Currently, we are in the preliminary stages of identifying new opportunities for upcoming national and European calls in these areas. INTERDISCIPLINARY COLLABORATION
This proposal is interdisciplinary in both methodological and academic approach; it gathers aspects referred to Law, Economic Policy and Social Science, all them focused in tackle the challenges of the new economic context focused in the people and their necessities. The multidisplinary focus is essential in the team, integrated by Lawyers, Economists and Social Scientists. The team aims to reach multi perspective solutions to those challenges, analyzing their social, environmental and economic impact. That’s why interdisciplinary collaboration is essential.
Interdisciplinarity is, in fact, one of the strengths of the host unit, with members specialized in Economics, Law and Social Science; as a consequence, the projects and academic publications given by the research team count on a combination of these methodologies and perspectives. Synergies of this proposal with projects developed by the research team at this moment (on solidarity, social innovation, accountability of organizations, social engagement, collaborative economy, social entrepreneurship, among others) are expected. The project is aligned with H2020 topic: Europe in a changing world – Inclusive, innovative & reflective societies. In particular with the challenge: “Economic recovery and inclusive and sustainable long-term growth with focus on co-creation for growth & inclusion: engaging citizens, users, academia, social partners, public authorities, businesses including SMEs, creative sector & social entrepreneurs”
Moreover, is connected with Sustainable Development Goals, with special focus in:
• Goal 1: End poverty in all its forms everywhere: searching new organizations for fighting poverty, social discrimination and exclusion, as the experience of insertion companies and social cooperatives in the framework of the social and solidarity economy.
• Goal 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women: exploring new legal frameworks for female equality in workplace and in people-centred organizations as social and solidarity economy.
• Goal 8: Decent work and economic growth: searching for enterprises that “allow people to have quality jobs that stimulate the economy while not harming the environment”, once again people-centred organizations.
• Goal 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns: focuses in the people & planet demands in innovative ways.
• Goal 17 Partnership for the goals: exploring “partnerships between governments, the private sector and civil society”, always putting people and the planet at the core of decisions. INTERSECTORAL COLLABORATION
The research team has a wide experience in co-creating research projects with public and private agents, mainly the Direction of Social Economy of the Basque Government as well as cooperative and social and solidarity based organizations networks and diverse NGOs. According to the topic defined with the candidate, collaboration with other agents will be enhanced and supported by the team. IMPACT
Social impact will be promoted since the design of the research project to be developed by the candidate, enhancing co-creation with the actors involved (e.g. regional policy makers or social organizations). Equally, the participation of social agents during the research will be particularly supported by the team. The dissemination of the results will be done not only at scientific level but also through the web and blog of the team as well as through public seminars and meeting with public officers, aiming to reach the society and policy makers.
